Controller vibration test

Run the strong and weak motors one at a time, then a sweep from soft to full power and a pulse pattern that makes a loose or rattling motor easy to hear. If a motor stays silent or buzzes unevenly while the other works, that motor or its connector is the problem.

Controller bench

No controller yet

Turn your phone sideways for the full bench.

Press any button on your controller — browsers only show a pad after its first press.

Vibration

Hold the controller and run each test. One motor at a time makes a dead or rattling motor easy to spot.

Deep mode (WebHID)

You don't need this for the checks above: the standard test works with any controller. Deep mode is an optional extra.

Verdict

Connect a controller and run a check — the verdict shows up here.

Checklist for this controller

  • Hold the controller in both hands so you feel which side vibrates.
  • Test the strong (left, low) motor, then the weak (right, high) motor.
  • Run the sweep and note where the vibration starts and whether it gets stronger smoothly.
  • Run the pulse and listen for rattling or clicking.
  • On an Xbox pad in Chrome or Edge on Windows, try trigger rumble.

How to fix it

  1. No vibration at all: check that vibration is enabled in your OS or console settings and that Steam isn't intercepting the pad.
  2. One silent motor usually means a broken weight, wire or connector inside — a repair job.
  3. A rattle at low power often means a loose motor weight or housing screw.
  4. For DualSense over Bluetooth, try a USB cable — browser rumble over Bluetooth depends on the OS.

FAQ

Why doesn't my controller vibrate in the browser?

Firefox has no vibration support, and on some phones, iPads and Bluetooth setups the OS doesn't pass it through. Try Chrome or Edge on a computer with a cable.

Which motor is strong and which is weak?

On most pads the left handle holds the heavy, low-frequency motor and the right handle the light, high-frequency one.

Can I test DualSense adaptive triggers here?

Experimentally, in deep mode in desktop Chrome or Edge: it isn't verified on every DualSense yet. Effects start only when you pick one, switch off after 30 seconds and are reset when you stop, switch tabs or leave. If a trigger stays stiff, unplug and reconnect the controller.

Which controllers can do trigger rumble here?

Xbox One and Series pads in Chrome or Edge on Windows. Everywhere else the bench runs the two main motors only.

Can I test Switch HD rumble?

Only in the experimental deep mode in desktop Chrome or Edge. The standard Gamepad API has no way to drive HD rumble.
